We've all had acne at some point in our lives. It's a very common skin condition that can be very annoying to deal with. How then do we treat it?
Acne occurs when the hair follicles on the skin gets choked with dead skin cells and oil. This creates pimples, blackheads or whiteheads especially on the face, chest or shoulder areas. It can be worsened by bacteria which could cause inflammation and infection. For the record, acne can occur anywhere on the body.
Treating acne requires patience and consistency. Although acne cannot be cured completely, it can be treated. Trying out these home made remedies will do the trick
1. Exfoliate as often as possible
We cannot stress this enough. This is because exfoliation removes the dead skin cells that clog the skin pores. After exfoliating, the pores become clean and free which allows for easy absorption of acne treatments on the skin making it more effective. You can make a DIY scrub or used any of the Face and Body Scrubs from Kaydua Luxury.
2. Use apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is good for treating any bacterial infection. The organic acids found in apple cider vinegar makes it a good treatment option for acne and acne scars. Mix three parts of water to one part of apple cider vinegar, dip a cotton ball into the mixture and gently apply on your face or affected area. Do this only after cleansing your face. Let the mixture sit on your face for about 20 seconds and wash off with water only. Pat your face dry. You can do this every morning and evening.
3. Use coconut oil
Coconut oil contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial compounds that help in the treatment of acne. It also helps in getting rid of acne scars. To use, cleanse your face or affected area and apply a little bit of coconut oil on the affected area.
4. Use oil-free skin care products
Having clogged pores leads to acne which makes it necessary to use skin care products that are free from oil especially if you have oily skin. When choosing your products, be particular about which kinds of products would suit your skin type and condition.
5. Use honey and cinnamon
Honey and cinnamon have a lot of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties suitable for reducing inflammation and treating acne. To use, mix 2 tablespoons of honey and one tablespoon of cinnamon. Apply the mask to your face after cleansing. Let it sit on face for about 15 minutes and wash off. Pat dry and moisturize.
6. Apply aloe vera
Aloe vera is quite common all over the world. Applying the natural gel to the face helps in reducing inflammation, wounds and burns. This is why a lot of skin care products contain aloe vera. To use, scrape the natural gel with a spoon from the aloe vera plant and apply the gel directly to the skin after cleansing. You can use it as a moisturizer. Do this once or twice in a day depending on how severe your acne is.
Doing all these things can help in treating acne. You don't have to do everything all at once. Start with one treatment and observe how your skin responds to it. Aside these, please make it a point to drink a lot of water and de-stress regularly. You can also add tea tree oil to your skin products.
