Self care is necessary care, let's help you care for your skin

Choosing Between Face Masks and Scrubs

Facial care in general can be quite sensitive. Some prefer using a facial scrub and others a mask and another group prefers doing both. Let's go into what each is and its benefits.

Face Scrub

The basic job of a face scrub is to cleanse and remove dead skin cells and impurities. It is an exfoliant. This is why it comes in granular form most often. Scrubs can be cream-based, oil-based or clay-based.

Using face scrubs helps in deep cleaning the face to prevent the formation of acne and breakouts. This is why it is advisable to use it 2-3 times a week for maximum benefits.

As a natural exfoliator, dry and dull skin doesn't stand a chance. Kaydua Luxury's Face and Body Scrub contains pure cane sugar crystals with glycolic acid which diminishes roughness and unclogs pores to reveal an even skin tone while the natural oils nourish and moisturize the skin.

Directions for use

Scoop a generous amount of scrub and massage into skin in circular motions using your finger tips. Exfoliate after your shower or bath.

Face Masks

Masks help in rejuvenating the skin for clearer skin. It also increases hydration to the face which is particularly helpful if you have dry skin. Using the mask regularly helps do away with fine lines and wrinkles and over time gives an even skin tone and firmer skin.

Masks come in different forms including clay, peel off, self-heating, exfoliating,  cream and food-based masks. What we're used to often is the clay mask. Clay masks generally help in absorbing excess oil from the face as well as do away with blemishes caused by acne. It is often made from bentonite, which has been used in the beauty industry for ages.  It is a soothing ingredient that reduces both inflammation and irritation. It is non toxic and absorbent which makes it ideal for the face.

Directions for use

Take about 1 tablespoon of powdered mask into a plastic bowl and reseal the bag. Stir in 2-3 tablespoons of desired liquid (water, milk, yogurt, honey, apple cider vinegar, witch hazel, aloe vera juice, rose water, etc.) to form a paste. Apply onto skin with clean fingertips or mask brush after exfoliating. Avoid the eye area. Leave on for 10-30 minutes. Use a warm washcloth to wipe off or rinse with warm water. Using the facial masks 1 to 2 times a week is ideal. Use plastic or wooden utensils to mix the mask, no metals please.

Ideally using both the facial mask and scrub in your skincare regimen has immense benefits. You can use both interchangeably but not on the same day as it might be too much for the skin to handle. Ultimately, you'll have to know what your skin can handle and stick to that.
