Oily skin is nothing to be shy of. It only means the sebaceous glands are working extra time producing excess oil. This is often as a result of genes, stress and/or hormones. As expected, this results mostly in acne formation when not taken care of properly. In case you're wondering how to take care of your skin, here are some home remedies you can try.
Clay Mask
Cosmetic Clay or Bentonite Clay absorbs oil from the face while treating other skin conditions. All you need to do is to mix 1 to 2 tablespoonfuls of the clay with 1 tablespoon honey, water, rosewater, apple cider vinegar, castor oil or any other preferred liquid of your choice. The mix should not be too thick or runny. Wash your face and apply mixture on the entire face. Let it sit for about 20-30 minutes and rinse off with warm water and a face towel. Pat your face dry and moisturize after.
Honey Mask
The antibacterial, antiseptic and humectant properties of honey makes it ideal for oily skin. You can add cinnamon powder to it. This helps treat acne. Mix equal parts of the cinnamon powder with honey and apply to washed face. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water after and moisturize your face.
Lemon and Egg Mask
Lemon and eggs help tighten the pores of the skin making it supple. This mask also has antibacterial properties plus the acid in lemons is ideal for absorbing oil. Apply the mixture to your freshly washed face. Let it sit on face till it dries up and wash off with warm water. Pat dry and moisturize your face.
Aloe Vera
Oily skin stands no chance with aloe vera. Just apply a thin layer of aloe vera on your freshly washed face before bedtime. Keep it on during the night and wash it off in the morning. Do this at least once a week and watch the magic happen.
Oily skin cannot be done away with completely. However, avoiding foods rich in sugar, fried foods and processed foods helps. If possible, stay away from heavy makeup and indulge in these facial masks. For further skin consultation, please do not hesitate to contact us on Facebook or Instagram or via +233 596 050 073.
