Commonly Asked Questions About Skincare

Skincare comes with a lot of guessing and trying of products till you find something that works for you. All these come with a lot of questions and trials. We cannot exhaust all the questions but we can help you be clear on some of them. Ready?

1. Why do I break out after using a new product?

This is common for most of us. After trying a new product, we usually 'purge'. Purging happens when you break out in places you normally wouldn't break out after using a new product. They often disappear as quickly as they appeared. Sometimes, your skin needs a bit of time to adjust to the new products. However, if these bumps are there for 3 months and over, discontinue use of the product. You might be allergic to something in it.

2. How often should I exfoliate?

One school of thought recommends exfoliating two or three times a week. Many others say it depends on the type of exfoliant and how severe or otherwise your acne is. However, we recommend that you start with exfoliating at least once or twice a week and depending on how your skin takes it, increase or reduce the frequency.

3. Can I get acne from the food I eat?

In simple terms, yes! This is quite shocking for some of us. If you do like taking a lot of refined sugar then get ready to deal with acne. Including vegetables and fruits in your diet as well as drinking a lot of water helps. Do you know what else doesn't cause acne? Chocolate!

4. How do I fix uneven skin tone?

Uneven skin tone happens as a result of sun exposure, uneven pigment distribution and hormonal changes. One way of solving it is by exfoliating your skin frequently. We are talking about a full body scrub to do away with the dead skin cells. You can also use products with Vitamin C to balance your skin tone.

 5. My skin is oily. Do I still need to moisturize?

Even if you have oily skin, your have to moisturize. Moisturizing helps keep the skin hydrated whilst improving the texture of your skin. We recommend using an oil-free moisturizer if you have oily skin.

6. How do I handle my sensitive skin?

Sensitive skin reacts easily to harsh products. This is why you need to be very selective on the kind of products you use for your face or body. Avoid using products that contain harsh chemicals. Choose natural or organic products like Kaydua products that do not contain harsh chemicals for sensitive skin. Always remember to do a patch test when trying a new product for the first time.

Skincare requires patience and consistency. Don't give up if it becomes tedious. Keep going.
