Home Remedies for Dark Circles

Dark circles, which is often associated with tiredness, is not a good look. It can affect anyone but is common among older people, those with darker skin tones and people diagnosed with periorbital hyperpigmentation. Fatigue, is one of the major causes of dark circles. Other causes include age, anaemia, over-exposure to the sun, allergies, dehydration, eyestrain and many others. Here are a few home remedies to reduce the appearance of dark circles.

Get some rest

One of the surest ways of reducing the appearance of dark circles is to get some rest. Being deprived of sleep makes the skin dull which makes the blood vessels and tissues more visible. Getting enough rest helps in the rejuvenation process which in turn makes the skin appear naturally brighter.

Apply soaked tea bags

The caffeine and antioxidants in tea bags help with blood stimulation. They also shrink blood vessels. Get yourself two bags of black or green tea, soak them in hot water for about 3-5 minutes and transfer them to the fridge for about 20 minutes. Lie back, relax and apply the cold tea bags on your closed eyes for about 20 minutes. Wash your face with cold water and you're good to go.

Drink a lot of water

Dehydration can also lead to dark circles. Drink a lot of water. Set reminders or daily targets to help you remember to drink water. You can infuse fruits like apples, oranges or watermelon to make things interesting.

Cucumber

Naturally, cucumber has mild astringent properties. A few slices of fresh cucumber placed in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes and placed on the eye area for another 20 minutes twice daily will do you good. Rinse with warm water and moisturize after.

Apply coconut oil

The anti-inflammatory properties of Coconut Oil makes it great for treating dark circles. All you need to do is to rub it under the eye area at night and leave it on till morning. Gently rinse off in the morning and moisturize.

Don't get worried if you keep getting dark circles. There's no cause for alarm. Just try some of these home remedies and you'll be good. For further consultation on skin care, please do not hesitate to contact Kaydua Luxury on +233 596 050 073 or @kaydualuxury via Facebook and Instagram.
