Christmas in our part of the world screams one thing, the harmattan. The harmattan is no joke. This extremely dry weather comes with a lot of dust and very dry hair. Apart from it being extremely uncomfortable, it has dire effects on the skin if not treated well. So what can you do to make sure your skin does not suffer unduly from the harmattan?
Limit your time in the shower
We get it. You might want to organize a whole concert in the shower but do limit your bath time to about 5 to 10 minutes. Staying too long in the shower strips off your natural oils. You do need all the natural oils you can get during this period.
Shower with lukewarm water
Hot water is a no-no in this season. Lukewarm water works best. Hot water, for the most part, also strips off your natural oils. Plus, it causes your skin to dry out faster which could even lead to more skin care problems. Don't make that mistake.
Moisturize immediately after taking a shower
Do not make the mistake of leaving yourself out to dry after taking a shower. You'll be in for a very dry shock. Whilst freshly out of the shower and still moist, moisturize! You stand a better chance of keeping your skin fresh and moisturized all day.
Use heavy moisturizers
This season is for heavy moisturizers. The harmattan is no joke and neither should your moisturizer be. Heavy moisturizers such as the Shea Body Butter and Shea Body Oil should be your companions this season.
The harmattan this year came in full force. Practice these tips and protect your skin from this harsh weather. For further consultation on skin care, please do not hesitate to contact Kaydua Luxury on +233 596 050 073 or @kaydualuxury via Facebook and Instagram.
